▶Objectives
Insufficient inclusive structures in VET hinder disabled trainees' access to vocational education. The partnership “It is a Match!” promotes inclusion through extracurricular VET for youth with intellectual disabilities. Goals include addressing discriminatory school-to-VET transitions, showcasing successful practices, empowering role models, providing VET-companies with a best practice roadmap, implementing a multimedia storytelling curriculum and creating a supportive stakeholder network.
▶Activities
We will hold 6 transnational in-person partner meetings, including learners with intellectual disabilities as experts. We will produce eBooks on best practice, a multimedia storytelling curriculum, a guide for inclusive extracurricular school-to-VET transition and carry out trainings. We will conduct surveys with VET-organisations, learners with intellectual disabilities and parents. We will organise local multiplier events to reach to stakeholder network to promote inclusion in VET.
▶Impact
Through the project 'It is a Match!' we want to sensitize VET-companies and policy and decision makers for the needs of inclusive VET and provide them with knowledge on extracurricular best practice to enable them to become a good match for future trainees with intellectual disabilities. The project contributes to the consistent implementation of the UN-CRPD, Art. 27, to include the marginalized target group of learners with intellectual disabilities in VET on the same basis with others.
