Objectives

In order to reach the Sustainable Development Goals, civil engagement and common values are needed. Schools foster reflection upon and engagement for the SDGs. This project aims at using the potential of (International) Service-Learning (S-L) for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). An educational concept will be created and tested, which equips universities and other teacher training institutions to implement high-quality trainings and seminars on S-L for ESD.

Activities

1. Experiences of teachers having implemented S-L projects in the context of ESD will be collected & analyzed. 2. We will focus on developing an educational framework that makes the concepts accessible & outlines its synergies: It will highlight the potential of S-L for ESD, make clear where difficulties lie, include examples and suitable methodological approaches. It will also cover the opportunities of International S-L. 3. This concept will be used to design and implement seminars/trainings.

Impact

The project results and outcomes will be: - An educational framework for ESD through (International) Service-Learning On the basis of this, we will derive - A concept for a seminar on S-L for ESD at LMU (target group teacher trainees) - A concept for a teacher training on S-L for ESD in Romania (target group teachers) - A concept for a teacher training on S-L for ESD in Germany (target group teacher trainers) These concepts will subsequently be implemented as pilot trainings.
