Objectives

The project aimed to promote awareness of environmental protection and sustainability by highlighting the importance of water as a vital resource. This future-oriented topic seemed particularly important for the participating youth. It relied on low-threshold, everyday approaches to ensure the inclusion of all learners, especially those with cognitive impairments. International exchange was intended to strengthen intercultural competencies. Practical learning experiences through experiments and excursions were designed to enhance students' scientific knowledge and environmental skills. Additionally, action recommendations were developed to establish sustainable school practices and make the topic accessible to people with cognitive limitations. The project fostered collegial collaboration between the participating schools and made complex relationships understandable for all students.

Activities

The project "Without Water, Nothing Works" encompassed a variety of activities to promote environmental awareness and inclusion. It began with meetings between partner schools to plan the activities and develop materials. Students conducted various experiments on water analysis to gain practical knowledge about water quality and usage. Expert discussions provided theoretical backgrounds on water and sustainability, while visits to museums like Hidrodoe offered interactive learning experiences. These activities fostered intercultural exchange and collaboration among students from diverse backgrounds. By combining practical experiments, theoretical knowledge, and interactive experiences, the project strengthened awareness of the importance of water as a resource and promoted the inclusion of all learners, particularly those with cognitive impairments.

Impact

The project resulted in a variety of outputs and products that documented student learning and collaboration. Key outcomes included the measurement results from water analyses, which provided students with practical insights into water quality and usage. A self-created handbook summarized the findings and offered recommendations for sustainable practices. Films and animations produced by the students illustrated the project experiences and enhanced understanding of complex relationships. Quizzes were developed to test and deepen the acquired knowledge. These products served not only to document but also to disseminate the project results within the schools and beyond. They supported inclusion by presenting content in an easily understandable form and promoting intercultural exchange. Overall, the outputs helped strengthen awareness of environmental protection and sustainability and intensified collaboration between the participating schools.
