Objectives

EcoStories seeks to empower secondary 12-15-year-old migrant students, their peers and teachers in Life Sciences, Design & Technology and Environmental Science classes to participate in Citizen Science projects for climate change whilst promoting migrants’ social inclusion through intercultural methodologies. This will advance their science capital, ICT skills, scientific literacy and transversal skills whilst enhancing science-society collaborations with CS research.

Activities

EcoStories develops a Pedagogical E-book, a Customized Citizen Science Repository and STEM-based Lesson Plans. To do this, EcoStories organises focus groups, webinars, Info Days and Science Cafes to collect feedback on target groups’ needs and perceptions. Students in multicultural classes will participate in global CS projects. This will encourage students to pursue STEM careers and enhance their science capital while providing avenues for inclusive participation.

Impact

EcoStories develops a Customised CS Repository with digital CS learning nuggets and STEM-based Lesson Plans on Life Sciences, Design and technology, and Environmental Sciences subjects via a co-creation process with teachers and experts. Teachers are provided with an E-book on the value of CS for climate action, a Methodological Guide for Young Citizen Scientists, and the EcoStories Audiovisual Report with testimonials and best practices from CS activities in schools.
