▶Objectives
Connecting youth-led placemaking initiatives in rural areas, led as NGO-Municipal partnerships, to develop and transfer best practices on rural youth placemaking in regions with democratic challenges. Co-created & co-implemented by young people in the four testbed placemaking sites (repurposed youth-led spaces), this project will explore and promote using collaborative placemaking as a tool for democratic education and social cohesion at the local rural level.
▶Activities
WP2: Local Alliance Building to ensure the project is informed by the needs of, and implemented by, our target groups (youth workers and young people in rural regions). WP3: Capacity building program for youth workers in our testbed sites, and exchange program for young people in the placemaking sites. WP4: Nine month cocreation program in the four testbed sites to develop upon WP2 tools, operating locally and between testbeds. WP5: Structured Dialogue with four municipalities
▶Impact
Best practices developed for adaptive reuse of rural public spaces co-created by youth, within partnerships between municipalities and youth led NGOs. Increased youth participation in local governance, and a scalable model of participatory placemaking, with tools and practices transferred to the broader traditional and non-traditional youth sector actors. A transferable model developed for NGO/municipal cocreation of spaces, to address democratic challenges in rural regions.
