Supporting Tourism Businesses to Transition Towards Green Business Models
▶Objectives
The FOOTPRINT project is motivated by the urgent global need to shift the tourism industry towards sustainability. Fuelled by a growing awareness of environmental issues and the imperative for responsible travel, the project aims to transform the tourism sector in partner countries. Recognising the diverse cultural and regional contexts, FOOTPRINT seeks to empower VET trainers, business owners, and managers with tailored resources, promoting the transition to sustainable tourism business models.
▶Activities
The FOOTPRINT project will undertake these activities: 1. Create a CPD programme to build the capacity of VET trainers to assist the green tourism transition 2. Pilot a CPD programme at a transnational training event in Spain 3. Develop a training programme for business owners presented as a series of masterclass sessions 4. Establish a set of guiding Practice Principles for business owners to implement to transition towards sustainable tourism 5. Ensure the widespread promotion of the project

FOOTPRINT will develop five complementary results: 1. CPD programme for VET trainers to build their green tourism competences 2. Training programme for business owners to encourage the green tourism transition 3. Guiding Practice Principles to support the transition to sustainable tourism business models 4. National-specific support guides with local best practices to showcase three core niche sustainable tourism sectors 5. Transnational training events for VET trainers
