ROuTES aims at putting in place an innovative solution for the creation of sustainable local social economies. The key objective of the project is to bring together communities,especially the most marginalised people, to enable them to lead the economic transition of their areas and ensure that this is reflective of the actual needs of the territories. The project builds on the idea that sustainable change can only happen through inclusion and by ensuring that all voices are accounted for.

ROuTES is built upon integrated activities that can be grouped as: 1. Participatory Training, to build capacity for the target group to lead on implementation. 2. Research and Development, engaging communities to ensure the output amplifies their voices. 3. Creation of the output, collating the material collected and developing ROuTES. 4. Dissemination, bringing the project, with its learnings and output, as far as the EU Parliament, to encourage replications of our initiative.

The project reaches its ambitious objective through the creation of an integrated app for tourists, which is the project’s output. The app will enable people to explore cities through three trails: 1. Food and local economy. 2. History 3. Nature. People travelling will be guided through the exploration by the voices, experiences, testimonials and anecdotes of local people, thus having the opportunity to enjoy themselves while also learning and opening up to different cultures if a holistic way.
