Objectives

When we implemented the project, our aim was to raise awareness among young people in our respective schools about the importance of everyday actions on the environment and their consequences for the future of the planet. Similarly, through concrete actions stemming from the reflections of French and Italian students, we wanted to establish lasting habits. Cooperation between European countries was also central to our project, as was the practice of English in a non-academic setting among young people concerned by the same issue: drastically reducing waste and committing to recycling. Improving our understanding of our behaviors, reducing our carbon footprint, understanding individual responsibility within a group, and promoting inclusion were also objectives shared by both high schools.

Activities

With the aim of fostering responsibility, collaboration, and concrete action, the activities took various forms and were all carried out through the cooperation of French and Italian partners. Awareness-raising was achieved through encounters with the local area and key figures or individuals active in the environmental field. • Meetings with representatives from the town halls of Châteauroux and Conversano to present the activities of this Erasmus exchange. • Exchanges with recycling professionals and associations working on recycling in France and Italy. • Visits to environmental conservation sites and heritage sites, assessing their historical and ecological significance. • Meetings with academics on biodiversity. And above all, concrete projects brought each activity to fruition, designed by students from both schools in teams during their exchanges.
