โถObjectives
Our Project aims at supporting visually and hearing impaired students by: O1. Creating an accessible Computer Science (CS) programme. O2. Training academic staff in supporting visually and hearing impaired students. O3. Creating a Community of Practice of academics and curricula designers from CS and related programmes across Europe aimed at knowledge sharing. O4. Fostering awareness that CS is a viable career option for all.
โถActivities
The project is going to develop guidelines and resources aimed at enabling Computer Science (CS) teachers and Higher Education Institutes across Europe to support visually and/or hearing impaired students. The production of the resources is going to be sustained by the creation of an international Community of Practice, an open access platform and staff training. Simultaneously, through a series of outreach activities, we aim at fostering awareness that CS is a viable career option for all.
โถImpact
We envision Higher Education systems that, thanks to specifically trained teachers and accessible administrative processes, are ready to welcome visually and/or hearing impaired students into their Computer Science programmes with virtually no barriers at all. Access2CS will foster the access to IT careers for the visually/hearing impaired and have an impact on the diversity of the IT workforce, and ultimately the inclusiveness of our global technologies.
