MEDSOILS CHALLENGE is motivated by the urgent need to address the complex and interconnected challenges facing soils in the Mediterranean region, exacerbated by climate change. To do so, a new generation of soil experts equipped with interdisciplinary training, skills and integrated approach is needed to create and apply innovative, sustainable and long-term solutions. MEDSOILS CHALLENGE develops a Joint International Master Degree aimed at providing the required training offer.

MEDSOILS CHALLENEGE involves 4 HEIs and 2 technical partners from 4 Mediterranean countries (IT, ES, SI, TR) in the design and piloting of the Master. The 3-years project carries out: 1) an in-depth analysis of training needs and skills mapping, involving 12 experts selected by the partners, including key actors; 2) the scientific and administrative design and signing of the Master, including its contents and tools; 3) the Master pilot for one year, involving 16 students selected by the 4 HEIs.

The project result is a joint curriculum that is innovative, forward-looking, and strongly aligned with the EU climate strategies and goals (Green Deal and Soil Deal). Its outputs and the feedback of the piloting will be exploited in future editions, generating a wider impact. HEIs will reinforce their internationalization, excellence and interactions with business. Technical partners and other organizations will benefit from newly trained experts to dynamize and upskill their teams.
