▶Objectives
Recognising that museums are a space for learning and personal development for audiences and volunteers, we will contribute to the inclusion of people with diaspora and bi-cultural or migrant backgrounds as volunteers in the museum and cultural heritage fields. We will train museum curators and museum volunteering managers to build capacity for a better integration of this target group while also providing cultural value to museums through their common narratives and personal experiences.
▶Activities
The State of the Art report will sharpen understanding of the training needs leading to a suitable training package for museum curators and museum volunteer managers to be piloted in two rounds using action learning and action research involving 105 museum volunteer managers and curators across Europe and 300 diaspora and bi-cultural volunteers. The results will be shared through communication campaigns, events and other materials that will enable wide take up and long-term sustainability.
▶Impact
MARVI will provide a training course for developing and strengthening the capacities of museum curators and museum volunteer managers to get a better understanding of the situation of people with diaspora and bi-cultural background, their potential contribution to the museum sector and better management of their volunteering in order to empower them providing them with professional and personal skills that enable easier integration into their future professional and personal lives.
