Objectives

The HEAD project aimed to improve the understanding, management, and prevention of headache-related disorders among adults through the development of accessible, evidence-based educational resources. Our main objective was to empower individuals affected by headaches to take an active role in their health by providing multilingual digital tools tailored to their needs. We also sought to support healthcare professionals with validated, easy-to-recommend patient education materials. Specifically, the project intended to create an online platform featuring 23 educational videos in four languages (EN, RO, FR, EL), accompanied by quizzes and written content. By offering free, science-based, and user-friendly content, the project addresses health literacy gaps, reduces misinformation, and fosters better communication between patients and professionals. Another key goal was to encourage collaboration between physiotherapists, neurologists, and psychologists across partner countries, promoting an interdisciplinary, person-centered approach to chronic pain and headache education

Activities

To achieve the objectives of the HEAD project, we implemented a range of interconnected activities. First, we coordinated regular online meetings to ensure alignment between partners and we held a transnational meeting in Romania and Greece to ensure objectives cohesion. We developed and launched a multilingual digital platform featuring 33 educational video materials (more than the 23 proposed initially) translated into English, Romanian, French, and Greek. Each video was accompanied by accessible written content and patient-friendly quizzes to promote knowledge retention and evaluate understanding. We also created a visual identity and conducted widespread dissemination through social media campaigns, professional networks, and partner websites. Throughout the project, we prioritised quality assurance and continuous feedback, involving healthcare professionals and patients to review materials for clarity and relevance. Additionally, workshops and presentations were held at national and international events to raise awareness about the platform. Monitoring tools were implemented to track usage, feedback, and quiz outcomes, ensuring we met the KPIs defined in the proposal.

Impact

The HEAD project successfully delivered all its planned intellectual outputs. The main achievement was the creation of a multilingual digital platform (www.headacheproject.eu), freely accessible to the public and designed to educate and empower individuals dealing with headache disorders. The platform hosts 33 educational videos, each available in English, Romanian, French, and Greek, covering various types of headaches, pain science, and self-management strategies. Each video is accompanied by text, and a short quiz, to ensure knowledge retention. In addition to the digital content, the project developed a visual identity, dissemination materials, patient-friendly handouts, and feedback forms. We also designed and tested a feedback survey to evaluate user experience and learning. Workshops, conference presentations, and active social media campaigns expanded the project’s reach. Another key result is the strengthened collaboration among healthcare professionals across three countries, setting the foundation for future interdisciplinary health education initiatives
