▶Objectives
The aim of the REX project is to re-engineer the student experience of selecting their mobility destination to meet their contemporary needs and expectations. Setting aside financial obstacles many students do not perceive mobility as special as it used to be, through this project we seek to understand by starting with the point at which students are faced with possibility of partaking in mobility to understand what factors shape their perception and decision to partake on mobility.
▶Activities
The REX project seeks to develop a literature mapping on the Erasmus mobility experience. Followed by an analysis via surveys and focus groups of the factors that shape student’s perception of the Erasmus programme and choosing a mobility destination and a VR proof of concept seeking to make the experience of selecting mobility destinations more informative and engaging. Finally, policy recommendations identifying best practices to improve the way students select their mobility destinations.
▶Impact
The project outcomes are to understand student needs and motivations on student mobility to discern how mobility can be perceived as easier, more fulfilling, more unmissable and more aligned with their values. Thus, enabling students to make better informed choices with respect to their mobility and encourage more students to partake in student mobility. Also to start a conversation on how new technologies such as VR can be used to enhance the mobility destination selection experience.
