▶Objectives
Young female migrants, especially if they come from conservative, non-EU cultural backgrounds, are often at risk of being disadvantaged compared to non-migrants and male migrants. Conforming to traditional role models prevents them from participating fully and actively in the social, cultural, political and economic life of the EU in various ways. Teens2Queens will a shed light on this issue and will set up an empowerment training to change their situation for the better in the long term.
▶Activities
We test 160 young migrant women to see how much knowledge and skills they have in the competence areas of personal development, citizenship and entrepreneurship, as well as EU values. On this basis, we develop a training programme and educate 30 trainers and social workers to conduct pilots with 80 migrant girls who develop their own mini-projects on the topic of “EU citizenship and migration”. Results, lessons learnt and key notes from policymakers are published in a digital policy paper.
▶Impact
Development of a COMPETENCE GAP DETECTOR with an online and an interview component; results of the gap-detecting will be published in a SURVEY REPORT. In the COMPETENCE GAP-BRIDGING PROGRAMME, young migrant women receive training in 15 different skills related to 3 main competences; the training offers E-LEARNING and leads to 1 MICRO-CREDENTIAL. The POLICY E-PAPER summarises the project's findings and calls on policy-makers to improve services for young female migrants on a large scale.
