▶Objectives
Comètes examines women's access to careers in popular music, through the lens of those who have and build on an artistic vision. This project aims to be a vehicle for learning, helping them to develop a critical and informed perspective on the discrimination they face, while strengthening their ability to overcome it. It fosters emancipatory thinking and seeks to contribute to facilitating professional integration that aligns with the life path to which every woman has the right to aspire.
▶Activities
The Comètes project is organising a series of three seminars, offering a pathway to raise awareness of professionalisation issues for a binational cohort of women. This pathway is structured around deciphering key resources, delivered in a setting conducive to self-expression, engaging experts and peers through inspiring stories and embodied feedback. It draws on the strength of networks and leverages the European scale as catalysts for the process.
▶Impact
The range of issues addressed aims to highlight a foundation of prerequisites and a competency framework to be developed for envisioning a career in music, particularly as a woman leader within an artistic team. Documenting each participant's journey and trajectory will help generate valuable knowledge for all those involved in supporting and mentoring emerging artists. This, in turn, seeks to encourage virtuous practices throughout the ecosystem.
