▶Objectives
Agrobiodiversity is not a widely known topic even though it’s the base of agriculture and food security. In this project we focus on building a network among different stakeholders, raising awareness about the importance of seeds and sharing practical skills of working with seeds. We have two main areas for our work: diving into the topic of working with seeds in urban environments and exploring the realities of small-scale commercial seed production.
▶Activities
We are organising a series of local and transnational workshops for urban gardeners, prosumers, professional seed savers, farmers and breeders. Together with the participants we create concepts for community seed banks adapted to urban environments and a possible model of small-scale commercial seed production. We share skills about working with seeds (theoretical basics, breeding, harvesting, storing, etc.). We also create two brochures about our topics and a photo exhibition about seed saving.
▶Impact
We want to raise awareness about the importance of seeds and agrobiodiversity. We want to give space for establishing networks in both countries of partner organisations. By the end of the project we want to have a better understanding of community seed banks (also in urban environments) and local commercial seed production and share these understandings with our communities online and offline. We want to spread the knowledge about working with seeds.
