Our goal is to leverage the expertise of the partner organisations to create a syllabus and resources to enhance teacher competencies in working with asylum seekers and refugees.The project aims to develop a teacher training program that equips language teachers with therapeutic skills and competencies, allowing them to deliver more inclusive lessons. Ultimately the goal is to foster a more inclusive educational experience, bridging social divides and promoting social inclusion.
▶Activities
The project includes an initial project management meeting in Dublin followed by 2 study visits: to ICP in Prague to observe their teachers and present materials and resources for feedback and to Greece to study integration & art therapy practices and explore ways to incorporate this into the syllabus. During the final phase, Everest will coordinate syllabus development over 8 weeks. Everest will pilot a 2 week teacher training course and fund 6 teachers to attend from Czechia, Greece & Ireland
▶Impact
The expected results of the project include a comprehensive 2 week teacher training syllabus that integrates art therapy techniques, alongside a mini guidebook and lesson plans. Participating teachers will enhance their skills in supporting asylum seekers and refugees, leading to improved educational practices. The materials will be disseminated widely, benefiting other organisations working with vulnerable populations. Ultimately, the project aims to create a more inclusive learning environment
