Summary

This project aims to develop open educational resources which will enhance the ethical competence of teacher who are engaging in classroom-based research but who do not have access to ethical oversight. We will create, test and evaluate accessible and evidence informed resources that will enhance teacher’s education research ethics (ERE) competence.

Objectives

This project aims to develop open educational resources which will enhance the ethical competence of teacher who are engaging in classroom-based research but who do not have access to ethical oversight. We will create, test and evaluate accessible and evidence informed resources that will enhance teacher’s education research ethics (ERE) competence.

Activities

• A context mapping report detailing the existing ethics frameworks/policies/guidance that can be applied to teacher research. • Base line data about teacher research ethics competency (from designed self-assessment questionnaire) • A series of ethical dilemma case studies for use by teachers to enhance their education research ethics competency. • A community of practice (CoP) and online webinars aimed at raising awareness & disseminating the ERE resources created by the project.

Impact

• At least three open educational resources produced, evaluated and disseminated for practitioner use. • Increased readiness by project partner teams via the CoP to advocate for the use of project ERE resources • Increased number of teachers with ERE competence, confidence & a deeper understanding the benefit of adopting ERE in their practice-based research. • Although teachers are the main target group, the resources will be useful for all practitioner researchers (early years, adult ed)
