Objectives

The project aims to enhance STEM and STEAM education for teachers and education staff in Greece and Ireland through the exchange of innovative training and learning methods and the development of new educational materials for use with primary school age students. The Irish group will learn about robotics/mechanics activities for 6-12-year-olds, while Greek participants will receive training to deliver the Doodle STEAM Programme which is aimed at parents of 6-8 year olds

Activities

12 teachers/staff from Greece and Ireland will engage in reciprocal training and learning visits to Greece and Ireland, where they will expand their capacity to deliver STEAM education to new age ranges and more vulnerable populations, using novel educational approaches. A range of STEAM materials will be developed including a booklet and video series, and a final showcase and stakeholder event will take place to share the learning and disseminate the new educational resources.

Impact

The project will result in a new team of Doodle STEAM Facilitators in Greece that are confident and competent to deliver high-quality STEAM training and activities to schools/ parents/ children, and in a scoping report for the expansion of the Doodle STEAM programme that integrates the robotics education learning that was gathered by Irish participants during their Greek visit. A series of STEAM resources will be produced, and the learning of the project will be widely shared to key stakeholders
