Objectives

Challenging the dominant narrative of adult educators as "truth-tellers", EPIC aims to raise awareness about how their personal and phylosophical worldviews and their social position as "experts" affect educational settings in terms of social and cultural diversity. EPIC outcomes aim to provide professionals with ideas and suggestions about how they can positively influence the training process with adult learners and enhance inclusion, equity, and non-discrimination practices.

Activities

Activity 1: Research to assess the level of adult educators' awareness on how their personal worldviews and their role as experts may affect inclusion and equity in educational settings. Activity 2: Develop the EPIC Skills Workbook, with ideas & guidelines for helping adult educators positively exploit their influence to enhance inclusion, equity and non-discrimination in educational settings. Activity 3: Ensure achievement of objectives, wide dissemination, and take-up.

Impact

A report on the adult educators’ needs in working with young people and how introducing them to the aforementioned topics could support their work. The EPIC SKills Workbook describes the topics, provides self-reflective questions to help professionals reflect and raise their awareness; provides guidelines and operative strategies to help adult educators apply these new insights and give ideas on how to share such ideas.
