Objectives

We want to offer people affected by Dementia a “bridge” back to society and local communities. By stopping or even reversing the progress of dementia, lowering depression and lifting older generations our of social isolation, we strive at social inclusion and prolonging life in good mental health and overall mental well-being. The problem seems to be crucial because the number of people at risk of dementia and Alzheimer's Disease and MCI in general is growing extremely fast.

Activities

We want to prove that mind activities like playing bridge could prevent dementia, lower depression, and lift older people out of social isolation. Within our project we will create: Special instructions for the teachers on how to work with targeted groups, scripts for participants explaining the rules of the game, information leaflet for local authorities showing profits coming from our project. Instructors will be trained and will carry out trainings/courses for the target group for 20 weeks.

Impact

We expect confirmation of all effects we connect with mind activity and playing bridge. Later on, implementation of the project in all European Countries (via the bridge league). There will be also: - guideline on how to teach bridge (plus videos) and training content for different audiences: patients, carers and the general public where they can learn how to play simple and regular version of bridge, - a website where all stakeholders can access useful content about bridge.
