βΆObjectives
Early-career midwife attrition (30β67%) threatens maternity care, well-being, and workforce stability. The three-year METIS project supports sustainable transition-into-practice through Eportfolio-based interventions. It enhances job application skills (WP2), facilitates employment transition (WP3), and trains mentors in Eportfolio use for career guidance (WP2-3). These efforts aim to improve maternity care, workforce retention, and alignment with EU regulations (WP4).
βΆActivities
240 final-year students, 120 newly qualified midwives, and 90 mentors will join Eportfolio-based interventions to support transition to practice. The project ensures a sustainable, EU-compliant transition by centring use of Eportfolio. Interventions focus on pre-graduation (WP2) and post-graduation (WP3) support. Key activities will support job application, CPD, well-being, mentor training, and digital readiness. EU policy alignment and stakeholder involvement ensure real-world relevance (WP4).
βΆImpact
The project develops two Eportfolio-based interventions to support midwivesβ transition-into-practice. Digital activities for students, newly qualified midwives, and mentors focus on job applications, onboarding, CPD, well-being, mentorship, and digital readiness. Collaboration with universities, employers, Eportfolio partners, and midwifery associations ensures impact, while EU policy alignment, open-source dissemination, and impact assessment maximize long-term benefits.
