Objectives

SUBJECT of this proposal is a project for the complete equipment of a training workshop for primary textile techniques. Primary textile techniques are divided into three main areas: spinning, weaving and fabric finishing. The spinning sector consists of the necessary apparatus for converting the fibrous mass into yarn. The weaving sector consists of the necessary apparatus for preparing the weaving threads and for weaving. The spinning and weaving apparatus are driven by human power.

Activities

The AIMS nad TASKS of the proposal are as follows: Joint study of the centuries-old European experience and the current state of craft and art workshops in primary textile techniques. Study of the interaction between the performer of primary textile techniques, the fiber raw material and the ergonomic parameters of hand tools. Discussion and development of nomenclature lists of mandatory tools for each primary textile technique, along with their characteristics.

Impact

The RESULTS of the achieved goals can be grouped as follows: A conceptual design of a training workshop for primary textile techniques. A conceptual design for the development of design documentation for apparatus for primary textile techniques. A series of 18 articles, combined into a monograph with a description of established textile workshops and museum exhibitions in Europe and the Mediterranean. Initial curricula for the implementation of a workshop for primary textile techniques.
