▶Objectives
AFC project aims to elaborate on all issues related to older people’s inclusiveness and quality of life in Age Friendly Cities, focusing on the social life, social participation, social solidarity and social inclusion; the ultimate aim is to identify methods and ways to advance their active participating in their local community. This aim is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and specifically with Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
▶Activities
The main activities of the project can be summarized to the following ones: • Conduct a European based research with a purpose to identify good practices towards the creation of an Age Friendly City; • Run open discussion between older people, local authorities representatives and policy-makers; • Creation of the Guidebook with policies and practices towards an Age Friendly City; • Teaching Course on Age Friendly Cities; • Local activities in Cyprus.
▶Impact
Identify good practices learned at a local level regarding activities promoting the Age Friendly City philosophy; • Participants will enhance their awareness regarding the needs of older people and become more responsible towards the creation of an inclusive society; • Cultivate a more responsible society which respects and protects its older population; • Achieve a better understanding of the challenges posed towards the creation of an Age Friendly City in different EU Member States.
