Objectives

Terra Preta, a fertile soil created through composting with biochar, offers solutions for agriculture facing climate change, water scarcity, and erosion. Developing training materials on Terra Preta integrates sustainable principles into education and curricula. Training educators in Terra Preta promotes regenerative farming by enhancing CO₂ storage through humus formation, fostering climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable resource use.

Activities

We will develop scientifically grounded and practical training materials on this future-oriented technology in three languages (German, Greek, and English), including a handbook, overview posters, and informative video sequences. Three training sites with the necessary infrastructure will be established. The training materials will be tested in pilot courses and then disseminated and integrated into networks to promote broader application and knowledge transfer.

Impact

We expect following results: tested training materials on Terra Preta in three languages, established training sites with the necessary infrastructure, and a strong network with agricultural and horticultural vocational schools in Greece and Germany. Additionally, it aims to increase awareness of Terra Preta and attract interested users in gardening and agriculture, promoting its wider application and benefits.
