CODEVET aims to establish COMET as a tool for competence diagnostics to assess, compare, and tailor training for professionals regardless of educational systems and training formats. This contributes to addressing the skills shortage and allows for an evaluation of education systems: a 'Vocational PISA'. COMET is intended to become part of quality management to continuously improve vocational education processes in line with Sustainable Development Goals (European Green Deal).

The participants learn a) how to use the COMET instruments in a rater training course in order to be able to evaluate learners' task solutions on the basis of the COMET competence model, b) generate open-ended vocational test and learning tasks and assess their quality, c) interpret the test results and use them for their own teaching development. The workshops also work with video sequences (microteaching). Approx. 1000 trainees in 5 occupations will be tested.

CODEVET uses competency tests to determine the individual competency profiles of skilled workers and presents them in a structured manner. Teachers use the results to draw conclusions about teaching and learning processes and optimise them. With the method, teachers gain the ability to self-evaluate. This expands school quality management. The data reaches education policy decision-makers and forms the basis for reducing the shortage of skilled labour and improving European education systems.
