▶Objectives
The aim is to raise pupils' awareness of sustainability. To this end, a new approach is taken by experimenting with the importance of the oxygen cycle and the carbon dioxide cycle through scientific and geographic karst phenomena. The pupils should recognise that this is a global problem that affects all people and must be tackled through international cooperative action. They should be encouraged to do this through their own activities and exchanges with pupils from other EU countries.
▶Activities
The karst phenomena are to be investigated by pupils at locations in Europe. To this end, the pupils plan projects that they then implement themselves. These should be carried out in the sense of service learning in such a way that they also represent a value for society. In further activities, the pupils will prepare the results for a digital learning environment that can be used by all schools for interesting and motivating computer and internet-based learning units in and out of school.
▶Impact
By accompanying the pupils in their investigations, which are organised with design thinking in the sense of service learning, and sharing the results, we want to show the pupils the importance of sustainable action. The creation of the learning platform should then enable far-reaching and barrier-free digitally supported access to karst phenomena beyond the directly involved pupils, which can be taken up by teachers everywhere and used in digital form and in the field in open forms of teaching.
