Objectives

SYNERGY enhances the capacity of youth workers to foster gender equality amid rising misogynist influences. It bridges research, practice and policy by exploring youth workers’ experiences with extreme misogyny, synthesizing evidence on effective youth interventions, and co-creating an innovative methodology with youth field stakeholders. The project strengthens youth work professionalism, reduces ideological polarization, and reinforces gender equality as a core European value.

Activities

SYNERGY includes research on youth policies, interventions and youth workers’ experiences. We will organize peer learning activities to gain practical insights and co-creation workshops where youth workers with other stakeholders will design an interactive handbook targeted at promoting gender equality in the context of increasing ideological polarization. Four conferences (at least 100 participants in total) for youth workers, young people, researchers, policymakers will take place.

Impact

The project will produce research reports on gender in youth policy, a systematic review of non-formal education interventions and a qualitative study on youth workers’ experiences with extreme misogyny among young people. We will create spaces for knowledge exchange for youth workers. Finally, these results will feed into the co-creation of an interactive handbook for youth workers on addressing extreme misogyny to continue fostering gender equality through non-formal education.
