Objectives

We want to prevent gender-based violence in relationships and online spaces, with a specific focus on young Roma. We want to understand the specific experiences, attitudes, and vulnerabilities related to GBV among young Roma women and men and to co-create culturally appropriate and relatable educational and awareness approaches that address healthy egalitarian relationships, dismantle harmful stereotypes and empower young Roma to identify and challenge GBV though its early signs.

Activities

We will implement needs assessments through focus groups that will form the base of the creation of an educational tool a culturally adapted digital comic that will use real-life stories to identify and challenge GBV in its early signs by bringing attention to harmful traditional gender stereotypes and abusive behaviors. It will be used in educational workshops and awareness campaigns. We will establish a Roma youth network as agents of change in their communities to amplify knowledge about GBV.

Impact

The project's expected outcomes include: -Increased awareness among young Roma about GBV, gender equality and healthy equal relationships -Roma young women empowered to identify and challenge GBV, and know how to recognize and reject abusive behaviors -A culturally appropriate comic that allows Romani youth to feel identified serving as an educational tool for GBV prevention throughout Europe -Dissemination of project findings and tools across Europe that can help more initiatives tackle GBV.
