▶Objectives
MRM will design, test, systematise and transfer intergenerational social mentoring models that improve the social health of vulnerable young people living in rural or depopulated areas of Italy, Portugal and Spain. Through a triple-ring piloting model (one-to-one, group and community mentoring), the project strengthens the relational links of each young person with their community, improving their personal well-being and contributing to the settlement of the young population in the territory.
▶Activities
The activities will include mentor recruitment and training, mentoring sessions for rural youth, community-based service-learning projects led by young mentees, and awareness-raising events in target and non-target areas. We'll conduct continuous monitoring, practice mapping, and multimodal data collection to evaluate impact. MRM will conclude with national and international transfer and dissemination events and the development of a replicable mentoring model for future use in rural areas.
▶Impact
We will develop a fully transferable rural mentoring model, improve youth well-being and interpersonal skills, and foster stronger community engagement. Other outcomes include a best practices guide, documented successful mentoring strategies, and increased social cohesion in rural areas. We expect to raise awareness about youth needs in rural communities, including the need to promote gender equality and to combat stigma and discrimination, and influence policies supporting their development.
