Objectives

The education of engineers in Lean, Circular and Digital Manufacturing is critical to the competitiveness of industry. CircLean aims to develop an innovative approach to teaching the combination of Lean, Circular and Digital concepts in education to reduce the gap between academia and industry needs in these areas. This will enhance the skills of engineering students to facilitate their integration into the labour market, and better prepare them for the challenges of smart manufacturing.

Activities

ENSAM, UC and KTH, three universities, will work together to achieve these objectives by (1) developing teaching modules that represent the industrial need in lean, circular and digital concepts; (2) developing a methodology, inspired by a design-based research approach, to create teaching sequences and learning environments; and (3) proposing a portfolio of ready-to-use products.

Impact

The outcomes of the project will collectively serve to enrich the educational experience of engineering students in higher education, equipping them with the skills necessary to succeed in the evolving landscape of manufacturing systems. These outcomes can be extended well beyond the end of the project, benefiting not only the participating partners within their HEIs, but also other HEIs that will benefit from the dissemination of these outcomes, and vocational training.
