My Encounter introduces a scalable, youth-driven model that fosters civic engagement and democratic participation of youth, empowering and supporting them to shape their communities through co-creation of microdemocratic interventions with youth workers. It enhances youth work quality and recognition by equipping youth workers with knowledge and practice to support youth, ensuring its long-term sustainability; and raises awareness of youth engagement’s role in building democratic societies.
▶Activities
My Encounter directly engages over 300 young people, youth workers and stakeholders in the youth sector (including policymakers) by offering: training opportunities; developing digital tools; facilitating microdemocratic community interventions; providing mentor support; promoting examples of good practice; implementing research (focus groups, surveys, analyzis), campaigns and events to develop sustainable resources, fostering civic engagement and democratic participation of youth.
▶Impact
My Encounter delivers the Vademecum handbook with 15 models of microdemocratic interventions, tested through 40 youth-led activities. A 3-day curriculum validated through summer school trains 12 youth workers and 12 youth. The digital platform ensures long-term access to resources and an online planning tool, while 2 social media campaigns promote participation. Policy report advocates for policy changes and final events connect youth, youth workers, and policymakers, ensuring long-term impact.
