โถObjectives
Tourism is a major economic activity in Europe, with a wide-ranging impact on economic growth, employment and social development. However, in increasingly larger parts of Europe, this sector is threatened and damaged by the effects of climate change. For this reason, there is a growing need for cross-sectoral skills and expertise on disaster management and response for tourism sector operators, fostering a shift in attitudes towards green transition, increased resilience and sustainable tourism.
โถActivities
A common methodology and 5 local Action Plans will strengthen collaboration between emergency experts and tourism actors. Innovative training materials for VET education, continuous training, and self-learning will be created. A micro-credential certification system will be implemented. The project will also showcase a small-scale scenario with best practices in emergency management and a replicable TableTop Exercise format focused on risk reduction and disaster management for tourism operators.
โถImpact
The RETES project bridges the tourism sector's skills gap by developing digital training, scenario-based Tabletop Exercises, and a cooperation methodology between tourism and civil protection. The micro-credential certification system implemented will increase employability for young and adult tourism workers, strengthen EU tourism competitiveness, and boost resilience and sustainability in both the short and long term.
