▶Objectives
EU ceramics museums hold a great heritage of ceramics impacted by wars and conflicts, which are poorly valorized due to the lack of staff’s specific knowledge and skills in the sector. JOINING THE SHARDS’ main objective is therefore to raise staff competences inside museums and cultural institutions to better deal with the ceramic cultural heritage impacted by war and conflict under two main areas: (a) technical conservation and preservation; (b) cultural narratives, storytelling and exhibition.
▶Activities
The project will implement different types of activities that will contribute to reaching project’s objectives, among those: > Assessment, desk researches and best practices collection > Transnational workshops and study visits > Micro pilot-testing on innovative conservation/restoration techniques and related transnational training > Joint Transnational Workshop on storytelling techniques > Local trainings/workshops for the transfer of competences > Audience engagement testing activities.

JOINING THE SHARDS’ project main results will be: - R1:GUIDELINES introducing the specific topic of ceramic conservation for heritage impacted by war - R2:BOOKLET on innovative technologies and application possibilities in ceramic heritage conservation - R3:Medium-term CONSERVATION & EXHIBITION PLANS (1 per involved ceramic museum) - Development of cultural organizations involved through the valorization of heritage materials - Upskilled and more stimulated museum staff/cultural operators.
