Objectives

The project aims to increase awareness, upskill tourism professionals, and foster cross-border collaboration in sustainable marine tourism. It will develop a blended training program, promote eco-friendly tourism models, and establish a certification system. Through study visits, mentorship, and policy engagement, it strengthens the Blue Economy, supports mental well-being tourism, and ensures long-term sustainability in Malta, Liguria, and beyond.

Activities

The project will conduct needs assessments through surveys and focus groups. It will develop blended learning modules covering sustainability, blue economy, and responsible tourism. Pilot training for 10 tour operators (5 in Malta, 5 in Liguria) will be delivered. Study visits and mentorship programs will facilitate peer learning. A final conference and a Best Practices Guide will ensure wider adoption of project outcomes.

Impact

The project will upskill tourism professionals, increasing their capacity to implement sustainable marine tourism practices. At least 10 tour operators will complete pilot training, integrating eco-friendly and blue economy principles into their businesses. A cross-border knowledge-sharing network will be established, and a certification framework will encourage the adoption of responsible tourism models, ensuring long-term industry transformation.
