The Lessons from the Soft City (LESC) project aims to enhance urban policies by integrating Soft City principles, focusing on inclusive participation techniques, community-driven placemaking, sustainable design, and increased creative & digital competencies in urban planning. We seek to empower urban professionals, policy makers, socio-cultural workers, and NEETs with the skills to foster inclusive, resilient urban spaces while strengthening community engagement and long-term policy development.
โถActivities
The LESC project will include activities such as action-research, focus groups & stakeholder mapping to assess local needs. We'll host a LESC Training Course on inclusive placemaking, sustainable design, digital tools, such as mapping and AI, in Madrid, complemented by Assets Based Community Development workshops. Participants will co-create digital maps, quality proposals, and 3 Soft City Podcast tours, culminating in a final dissemination event and book launch in Brussels to share key results.

The LESC project will produce key results, including new urban policies, based on Soft City principles, digital maps highlighting urban opportunities, a co-created quality proposals for sustainable placemaking, and a co-created multi-year policy plan for the participating cities and co-develop policy recommendations for urban resilience. Additionally, the project will deliver 3 Soft City Podcast Tours, Training Course Materials, and the LESC Guidebook, shared widely to ensure lasting impact.
