Objectives

The GE-CT project aims to strengthen teachers’ and educators’ competences in genocide education by focusing on children’s experiences in genocide. It will develop engaging, student-centered educational materials, co-created by experts, teachers, and students. Through teacher training, pilot testing, and classroom exhibitions, the project will enhance critical thinking, historical awareness, and empathy, ensuring sustainable use of resources in schools.

Activities

The project includes developing 8 expert-designed activity plans on children in genocide, complemented by 5 teacher-created plans during training seminars. Teachers will be trained in their use and will pilot test them in schools in Croatia and the Netherlands. Students and teachers will co-create bilingual classroom exhibitions based on the materials. The project will also include evaluation, dissemination, and digital publication of resources for long-term use.

Impact

The project will produce 8 expert-developed and 5 teacher-created activity plans on children in genocide, available online for widespread use. At least 10 trained teachers will implement these plans, benefiting 200+ students. Four bilingual classroom exhibitions will be co-created, engaging schools and communities. The project will strengthen teachers' competencies, enhance students' critical thinking, and ensure sustainable access to genocide education materials.
