▶Objectives
The Virtual Polar Science Expedition project will develop and pilot two Virtual Polar Expeditions in the Netherlands and France, based on the footage and experience of the Foundation Arctic Explorer. This foundation has taken over 13.000 primary and secondary school children on a virtual expedition to the North Pole. With this project, the project partners want to scale up, and offer more people an unique and immersive Polar experience, at least 2.500 during the project and many more after.
▶Activities
We will develop and implement 2 Virtual Polar Science Expeditions, both in France and the Netherlands, tailored towards the local education system and VR and immersive technology available. These expeditions will be included in the standard offer of Museon-Omniversum and Futuroscope, and thus continuously used after the project. Secondly, we will gather the lessons learned in the project using a Business Model Canvas workshop, thus making the lessons learned available for other science museums.
▶Impact
This project will deliver two pilot expeditions, reaching 2.500 children. The impact on the children will be measured via a survey. The expeditions will be included in the offer of Futuroscope and Museon-Omniversum, ensuring the continuation of the activity, and reaching many more children. The project will deliver a report, using the business model canvas, capturing the lessons learned and allowing other science museums to adapt the Arctic Explorer material to their country as well.
