▶Objectives
The "Active Citizenship: Participation Game" is an educational tool designed to engage librarians and interdisciplinary teams in meaningful discussions about critical social issues while promoting collaborative problem-solving. The project provides a structured framework (the game and the workshops) that promotes active participation in civic issues, which is particularly relevant in today's socio-political climate.
▶Activities
Our objective is to facilitate citizen participation and collaboration between librarians and interdisciplinary teams by addressing current issues and applying participation methodologies in a playful way. We use our dynamic card game where participants can select topics such as climate change, disinformation and migration, and choose corresponding participation levels, enabling them to explore diverse methodologies for citizen engagement.
▶Impact
Through interactive workshops held in public libraries across Norway and Portugal, we aim to equip librarians and interdisciplinary teams with the skills to enhance civic participation in their communities. We believe Increased civic engagement gives measurable rise in community participation initiatives organized by workshop participants, resulting in more active involvement in democratic processes and enhance attendance and engagement in library-hosted events focusing on civic issues.
