▶Objectives
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing global food production. By 2030, EU temperatures are expected to rise by 1–2°C, with severe consequences for livestock productivity, welfare + economic stability. A consortium of 5 HEIs - 2 SMEs from 7 partner countries (PL, CZ, EL, BE, RO, BG, SE) addresses these urgent challenges posed by climate change on livestock farming through the development + online/mobile delivery of an innovative HE curricula, course and training workshops.
▶Activities
SLIMPACT develops an ECTS-compliant curriculum + associated course/training materials + digital learning tools that equip veterinary students and agricultural professionals with much needed skills to apply climate-smart science-based, technology-driven/climate-resilient livestock management strategies. In addition, we will train academic staff in applying innovative teaching methodologies, while ensuring HEIS uptake and sustainability of these practices beyond the project’s lifecycle.
▶Impact
SLIMPACT will produce: - an open-access, ECTS-compliant curriculum and course delivered as OER - micro-credential compliant online/mobile LMS system - interactive digital learning tools to train livestock professionals in climate adaptation. - application of blended learning, flipped classrooms, and collaborative online international learning (COIL) - organisation of webinars, (virtual) training workshops, policy roundtables and final dissemination events in all partner countries
