▶Objectives
The aim of the project is to influence the change the life purpose perception of people in, or just before retirement: from building a career to community driven work and becoming active citizens. It aims to provide an alternative to the policy of keeping people in the labour market for as long as possible. It shifts the potential of knowledge, experience and life wisdom into social service for building and strengthening communities. It allows active retirement to be promoted for the community.
▶Activities
The project proposes a toolkit for learning a new, social view of one's own potential: for educators to work with elders and for self-education of elders. The project will also include examples of good practices: how people on the edge of seniority can act for the benefit of communities. In addition, the project will include a pilot of the developed materials with in-depth testing of their effectiveness, so that the final outcome best serves to prevent end-of-professional-career problems.
▶Impact
The project includes three main outputs: a methodology incorporating the idea of Social Shift: from one's own career to social engagement, encapsulated in a guide for educators of older people; a self-learning course for older people; and a set of good practices demonstrating the benefits of social engagement for retired people. As a whole, it provides support for setting and achieving a new goal after leaving a career: working for others and is the alternative for staying in the labour market.
