Objectives

The project aims to strengthen local volunteering organisations’ capacity to design and manage inclusive and sustainable senior volunteering programmes while improving capacities to reduce the digital divide and recognising older adults as active agents in the community. Promotes lifelong learning and active ageing through volunteering as a non-formal educational tool. It also fosters transnational cooperation in the Benelux region and at EU level in order to boost senior volunteering at all lev

Activities

The project will include a kick off event with the approval of the Project Handbook, signature of MoU and a study visit to strengthen ties between partners and lay the foundations for the project's management; a needs assessment to analyse the current situation and context of senior volunteering; a training programme on senior volunteering management and digital divide; a piloting of senior volunteering initiatives; a social media campaign and 2 national events and 1 event at EU level.

Impact

The project expects to strengthen local organisations to manage sustainable senior volunteering programmes and reduce the digital divide. 20 managers will be trained in a capacity-building programme and will pilot 2 local senior volunteering initiatives to apply what they have learned. In addition, the value of senior volunteering as non-formal learning and a means of active ageing, intergenerational solidarity, social cohesion and active civic participation will be disseminated.
