Get involved - Equality Secured and Sustainable Sport Events

The project ESSSE has during the one-year project period included the following cross-cutting activities:Activities for all 12 participating associations: Information meeting with the participating associations. Workshops and seminars during Malmö Open on themes such as:- Strategic communication.- How to finance sports events in order to promote social inclusion.- Effective and innovative recruitment.- How to promote and implement events and arrangements.Workshops and seminars in connection with sports activities in England, Italy, Germany and Estonia with focus on the following subjects:Brighton/England- Training activities with the aim of providing increased knowledge among coaches and leaders how to promote the Brighton table tennis club. Activities to strengthen the association's network with different organisations in society as well as to inspire members of the association to carry out well-organised arrangements in order to increase the amount of members.Venice/Italy- Conference with participants from the civil, private and public sector in order to spread knowledge and share experiences on how to use sport as a way to promote social inclusion for people with disabilities. Activities in order how to identify ”best practices” as a foundation for increased cooperation between municipalities and associations to create awareness about the importance of sport as a tool for integration and inclusion.Kiel/Germany- Conference and workshop with a large number of representatives from associations and the Special Olympic Commitee in Germany with focus on using the experiences from former arrangements of the German "Special Olympics". Activities to promote the event during the ”Kiel woche” 2018 to prepare the local representatives in Kiel for the forthcoming ”Special Olympics".Tallinn/Estonia- Training activities and workshops focused on the recruitment of children and young people in order to raise awareness among trainers and coaches about the importance of including children and young people with disabilities in water sports. Activities to increase knowledge about how to meet the needs of different target groups, customise training for children and young people and how to increase the public's knowledge and awareness of the importance of sport for children and young people with disabilities.Implementation of the Youth Games Implementation of sports activities within the framework of "Youth Games" (Malmö Open – the youth edition) - a new recurrent annual sports event for children and young people. The arrangement of ”Youth Games” was used as a platform for the participants in workshops and seminars to apply their newly acquired knowledge to co-organise an event with a great number of sports on the programme.Other completed activities: The development and the updating of a web and facebook page for the project. Training in"storytelling" and presentation techniques for members in FIFH. The production of an "action plan" with general information about what the project has completed as well as a number of best practices and remaining challenges for associations that use sport to promote social inclusion and equal opportunities.
