▶Summary
The general aim of the LEPYTER Project was to encourage equal access and active participation in sport and physical activity of young people (5-17 years old) from disadvantaged groups (students at high risk of school exclusion; young people with mental or physical disabilities; young people from most deprived urban areas of Milan, Madrid, London, Berlin), and to promote social inclusion through sport. The project partnership was composed by 4 organizations from 4 EU States (Italy, UK, Spain, Germany), with relevant experiences in the fields of sport and social inclusion.Overall the final report findings show the LEPYTER project has largely met its original aims and partners’ final evaluation of the project was a positive experience.Firstly, the LEPYTER project achieved positive results in encouraging sport and physical activity among young people, through local sport-based programs carried out by each partner in home Country, which involved more than 500 young participants from different vulnerable groups.Secondly, the project brought added value to partners through exchange of best practices and experiences in promoting social inclusion through sport, mainly through 5 transnational project meetings and study visit in partners’ Countries:Kick-off meeting in Milan (Italy), 16-17 March 2018;SCL Sport Festival 2018 & 2nd Project Meeting in Berlin, 7 and 8 September 2018;Study visit to London and 3rd project meeting, 23 November 2018;4th TPM and sport event “Gira MegaCraks”, in Madrid (18 March 2019) AJFS;Final meeting, 10 and 11 May 2019, Milan. These transnational activities were the ideal ways for exchanging ideas, models and practical observation of the way of working of other partners with young people at risk of social exclusion. Finally, the project was also successful in raising awareness on the social role of sport and promoting the European Week of Sport: the following sport events in the framework of the project and related to the 2018 EWOS were held in connection with local workshops with local sport stakeholders:- International Sport Festival of SCL Sport club, 8 September 2018, Berlin;- One Week Of Sport For All, 17-22 September 2018, Milan.
