Physical Activity, RElations & Networking, within families Through Sport
▶Summary
1. BACKGROUNDThe project Physical Activity, Relations & Networking, within families Through Sports (P.A.RE.N.T.S.), based on a French initiative (Famillathlon), consists of a full day event to promote Sports and Physical Activity, Health and Solidarity for and with families in Europe. The concept on which the project is based is to allow families to get together in a dedicate site, accessible to all, where: •Everyone can try out and enjoy many sports and games, proposed by sports clubs and associations, without cost; •Families can receive advice and information on prevention, health, family, solidarity; •The activities are offered to all generations, to everybody disabled or not; •The events are free and organised by volunteers, without any commercial interest. 2. EVENTS In 2018, these specific “sport in family” events took place in France, Italy and Spain, during the European Week of Sport (22-30 September), with a view to: - Enable to all people discovery, initiation, practice of health-enhancing physical activity and family sports; - Inform and raise awareness in families about health and nutrition, through animations, games, and pedagogical tools; - Propose sports and activities, for disabled or not, in the same place for everybody; and enhance sports developing social inclusion, showing that sports are a tool for child’s development, family equilibrium and social integration; - Facilitate the involvement of parents in the choice, the practice and accompaniment of their children sportive activities, making the known sports movement and the diversity of physical activities: this will promote education through sport, involving also schools; - Enhance and recognize the significant contribution of volunteers in sport and associations. These events also helped create a network between the associations of the three countries involved, share good practice and disseminate a new way in physical activity promotion, making the sport a natural part of everybody’s life. 3. ASSESSMENT: Implementation of a common survey showing families physical activity levels, needs and expectations in the 3 countries was made during the life of the project.Assessment stages: 1. Previous analysis 2. During intervention Methodologic approach: 1) PREVIOUS ANALYSIS: Qualitative techniques • INTERVIEW with experts/authorities: • 1 person: Government representative / Regional authorities of SPORT AREA • 1 person: Families organization representative • 1 person: Event experts (Sports/Health/Family) • Duration: between 30 minutes and 1 hour Materials needed: Template of Qualitative Interview and a Template of Ideas from the interview. Quantitative techniques • Bibliographic research about: Data Family events benefits Sports benefits • Survey: Reach a group of families (To be confirm the number of families) to send them by e-mail a survey. 3 different languages. Materials needed: ONLINE link of the SURVEY. Objectives: Present the Familliathlon event / Contributions for the event. Present the Familliathlon methodology. See who they can contribute with new ideas. Value the current methodology. 2) DURING THE EVENT: One person with a tablet during the event doing survey to the participant families and associations. Including some questions related on future recommendations and potentials improvements. Materials needed: ONLINE link of the SURVEY.The results of these survey proved the needs for events like PARENTS, with very interesting informations about how to improve these events.
