Summary

The three-year period of Youth-Led Street Sport for All (‘YSSA’) is finished, and the consortium feels confident that overall, it has realized all but one of its outcomes. Covid-19 had a dampening effect on the great progress that was made in 2018 and 2019, and so while the project was on a trajectory that would have had activities continuing through the close of the project, and beyond, those have obviously been stymied by lockdowns. The partners keep local fires burning, and hope that once the health situation allows it, work can continue and activities can begin again. As of January 2021, all 5 countries are in lockdown with activities stopped. The most tangible outcome is the delivery of all three intellectual outputs: a Playmaker curriculum (Open Educational Resources) (IO1) and an online ‘Playmaker Toolbox’ (IT tool) (IO2) that are scalable to other countries and organizations working with ´Sport For All´. These can be used by all partners even beyond the project, and can be used by anyone, anywhere in the world. Also, the ‘Facility Guide’ (IO3) offers guidance to organizations and local authorities that are interested in creating more permanent, accessible, safe spaces where youth can engage casually in sport and physical activity. With the creation of these tools to guide us, the consortium was able to organize the many training sessions, weekly practices, open-street festivals, multiplier events, and dialogues with stakeholders. (The one missing outcome is the Youth Sport Panel, which should have developed in 2020 and capped with recommendations at a Multiplier Event in Malta: Covid kept this from happening). And through these regular events, the consortium achieved other results:The other outcomes that are important to mention are the qualitative and quantitative results: this project got more youth and children moving! And their participation contributed to their well-being not only while they were moving, but the educational and inclusive components of the program helped them learn about themselves and others in ways that will enrich their lives off the playing field. Please review the ‘Impact’ section for more information about the qualitative and quantitative results.
