Improving Coaching Techniques in Beach Volleyball through Beach Camps

The objective of the project was manifold from the beginning. The first aim was to popularise beach volleyball to make it more known and accessible to players of the youth age. The professional work’s other aim was to map the training and preparation opportunities during the whole year on the continent, seeking continuity and sustainability through coach development and through building good relations among the partner countries in order to utilise them with the youth age group.Throughout the project, partners organized beach camps including practical trainings as well as seminars, collected training materials and assisted in the finalisation of the outcomes of the project. The final handbook as one of the main outcomes of the project is a practical guide to coaches and players to effectively build and carry out beach volleyball camps. The knowledge material is based on the input of partners as well as associated coaches and professionals. Respective volleyball federations were also involved in the process. The different chapters are built upon each other and is prefaced with a holistic introduction on the musts of organising a successful beach camp. The project carries innovative aspects, as well as policy impact. As an innovation, and along with modern pedagogical aspects, the professional work did not only focus on coaching skills, but explored other effective ways in which the target group can be motivated. One of the most interesting area of focus was beach volleyball camps that are considered very alluring to children, thus more and more children could be attracted to the sport. Beach camps are not only alluring but also are the best ways to improve in beach volleyball, therefore significant improvement were noticed in the participating youth players. The project partners closely monitored children’s performance, motivational level, engagement throughout the project. The also positively affected the reputation of the coordinating and participating organisation in the general public as well as among stakeholders in the field.
