Network for Basketball clubs

Network for Basketball Clubs was a small collaborative partnership project among ASD Basket Venafro, acting as project coordinator, Sports club Šentvid - Ljubljana and BK Pardubice as partners. The main goal of the project was to exchange best practices, competences, know‐how, skills and experiences among the project partners in order to increase the know-how of participants and to create a stable network among European basketball clubs in order to continuously exchange information and best practices.To better achieve this main goal, the project included activities at three levels: Clubs’ Management,Coaches, Athletes. The involvement into the project of operators at different levels (managerial, technical, operational) had the scope to achieve a more intense and pervasive penetration of the advantages of creating a European culture in sport activities, so that the positive effects could have a longer duration and could guarantee the sustainability of the implemented actions. Three international meetings (in addition to the Coordination meeting organized in Brussels by EACEA and the kick-off meeting) were planned and implemented with the following specific goals:to analyse and discuss, among clubs’ managers, managerial problems: during the international meetings a specific session was dedicated to the club managers. Two main topics were presented and discussed: i) management and organizational models, with an exchange of different experiences and problems, and ii) innovative financial tools for sport activities with emphasis on crowdfunding;to compare training methodologies and approaches among coaches to increase their skills and mobility: a session of the international events was dedicated to coaches. They had the opportunity to present and compare training approaches by discussing specific topics. In addition, a specific session was dedicated to the relevance and approaches of mental coaching and to technics to prevent injuries during training and games s, and workshop about Genius safe motor program was delivered (development of specific motor skills using judo elements);to favor networking among young players and let them compare their skills with peers of other EU countries, tournaments were organized during each international event. Based on feedbacks during the first event, the methodology was changed during the project implementation favoring the creation of mixed teams that provided positive results and experience for both coaches and athletes.The main project outputs were i) the improved skills of sport club managers and coaches and the creation of direct relationships among such operators of different nationalities; ii) more than 100 young athletes with improved international experience and networking; iii) different reports/presentations on best practices in the management of no-profit sport clubs and on other relevant topics useful for coaches and managers; iv) the creation of an international network among basketball clubs that has already created some outcomes generating new projects; v) an increased awareness for all involved persons (directly and indirectly such as other sport clubs, public and private institutions, families, volunteers, etc.) regarding the relevance of sport and the support that EU institutions are giving to the grow of sport and sport operators; vi) learning foreign language, cultural exchange and raising awareness about EU values.
