Exercise as a mean to prevent and recover the chronic diseases
▶Summary
Background Systematic exercise brings multiple positive benefits to the physical and mental health of the individual and is a mean of preventing and treating chronic diseases. The systematic participation in exercise programs leeds to improved functional capacity of the individual, better control of blood pressure, improved lipid profile, reduced body weight and body fat, improve strength and balance and improves neuromuscular coordination. Objectives The objectives of the project are:- to inform citizens on the benefits of exercise in health, preventing and recuperating chronic diseases and guide them for safe and effective participation in exercise programs - to raise the awareness of health professionals to encourage patients to participate in systematic exercise - to train health and exercise professionals for the safe and effective use of the exercise as a means of preventing and restoring chronic diseases. Electronic Handbooks/Manuals of ExerciseA4: E-learning platformA5: Pilot Training of trainersA6: Interventional exercise programs with beneficiaries A7: Events for networking operators A8 Final conferences in partner countries A9: Dissemination activities Achievements The main results of the project include:•Review and analysis of the relevant National or European reports, policies and studies. Attitudes, quality of life, exercise levels of target groups in partner countries. •Electronic Handbooks/Manuals (a) Exercise and Cardiovascular diseases, (b) Exercise and Prevention, and (c) Exercise and Obesity. •E-learning platform that hosts the training materials.
