BePART – Inclusion through sport for better society
▶Summary
Background The BePART project addressed the problem of social exclusion by increasing social inclusion and providing equal opportunities in sport. The project developed a tailored methodologies that responds to the needs of the target groups and empowered coaches and trainers with the necessary skills and knowledge to address the problems of the target groups. By utilizing the benefits of martial arts, the project aimed to provide an innovative approach towards combating social exclusion in all its forms. Objectives BePART aims to:•Promote taekwondo for social inclusion•Develop sophisticated methodology for inclusive taekwondo practice•Empower martial arts coaches to address social exclusion•Increase intercultural awareness and combat prejudice, particularly against young socially excluded people•Support gender equality in sport•Create an online sport hub and e-guide for coaches and marginalized people•Provide mentoring on the platform to support social inclusion. Implementation BePART project envisaged the creation of a guide with 7 modules tailored to target groups, including coaching guidance for recognizing and approaching socially excluded youth. It also envisaged the development of a sophisticated online hub with e-guide modules, videos, mentoring tools, and networking for stakeholders to combat social exclusion.
